Who we are

Founder, Advisor

Mark Palmer

With nearly 50 years of experience in farming, Mark brings a deep and practical understanding of agricultural systems across a broad range of enterprises, from vegetables to dairying, and from low-input to intensive systems on farms large and small. His core focus is on improving soil health as the foundation for resilient, productive, and environmentally sound farm businesses.

Mark is a 2025 Churchill Fellow, exploring global best practices for reducing reliance on artificial fertilisers while maintaining crop yields. He’s a member of the Defra Expert Group on Organic Production, a Pasture for Life mentor, a Soil Association Exchange Advisor and co-founder of Homegrown Colour and Northern England Fibreshed. He also regularly helps on his partner’s family-run dairy farm in the North York Moors.
